The unique meeting will gather luminaries and CEOs from a range of emerging and established Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Academic institutions to tackle key strategic challenges with regards to Quality by Design (QbD).

Optimal’s position at the forefront of process analytical technology for pharmaceutical production has been extended recently thanks to widespread industry adoption of its market leading synTQ software platform. Hence, the company will also have representatives available at the event, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Zurich Airport on the 13th July 2016.

Quality by Design has become an established term within the paradigm shift currently taking place with regards to pharmaceutical production. The application of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) is the main catalyst in achieving this change within the industry – offering manufacturers the tools required to totally automate production processes using real time product quality attributes. Optimal has facilitated this trend via its synTQ software, a fully integrated software package suited to the rigorous demands of pharmaceutical production.

Speakers from industry giants such as Baxalta, Boehringer Ingelheim, CSL Behring, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Sanofi and Roche will be presenting on key topics. QbD experts including Optimal in the “Continuous Manufacturing” session will hold 60 minute forums throughout the day – giving ample opportunity for discussion on all things QbD.

Optimal’s sponsorship of the event is another logical step for the company in its aim to raise the profile and benefits of PAT to a wider audience. The already well-established precedents of minimising time to market from months to days have sent seismic shocks through the industry, with synTQ already adopted by over half of the global pharmaceutical majors.

Optimal’s Managing Director Martin Gadsby will be facilitating the workshop on the technical challenges in moving from batch-based processing to more cost-effective continuous manufacturing – utilising a QbD and holistic PAT approach, this round table event is occurring from 10 to 11 am.

The round table event will attempt to involve all parties, and share the questions, challenges, knowledge and experiences of moving from batch to continuous production.  Whilst this technological paradigm shift is relatively new to the pharmaceutical industry, Optimal has an enviable track record in successful PAT applications with continuous processes.

‘Having been involved with PAT for over 14 years with multiple successful PAT based continuous manufacturing installations, we have extensive knowledge in implementing the technology effectively to achieve cost-effective results. We will be sharing our experiences whilst drawing on the concerns and experiences of others in the round table group so that together we draw up a framework for the implementation of continuous processes.  We are very much looking forward to liaising with senior members of industry and academia to focus on this very topical subject.’
